Turkmenistan with Tom Macklin

Join the Army Flying Museum to hear their guest speaker Tom Macklin, an AAC pilot, who lived and worked in a former Soviet State. Tom will highlight the circumstances that led to two significantly different cultures, former adversaries from the Cold War, sharing a cockpit and getting to know each other, as a result of essential aircraft modernisation. Imagine; one of them had grown up with, studied, and witnessed the technological and operational developments in helicopter aviation over the previous 35 years, whereas the other was plucked from their weary 1960s aircraft, and dropped into the most modern of 21st Century helicopters, the AW139. Both cultures sharing that cockpit had a lot to learn.
