Simon Says Child Bereavement Support - Support Group Volunteer

Description

We are looking for volunteers to support bereaved children and young people - up to the age of 18 - at our monthly support group in Andover. Monthly support groups provide a safe and welcoming space where children and young people can spend time with others who have experienced the death of someone important. Being with peers who understand what they're going through can help them feel less alone and more able to express their thoughts and feelings.

What particular skills are needed for this role?
Comfortable hearing about grief. Empathy and understanding of children who have experienced the death of someone close to them. Full training is provided.

What activities will the volunteer perform or take part in?
Each support group session is themed around topics related to bereavement - such as anger, memories, fears and worries. Volunteers will be involved in delivering therapeutic activities that support these themes.
