This is an opportunity to support the local community by contributing to the governance of Endeavour Primary School, Andover. Governors will act as a critical friend to the school, checking that teaching and learning is effective and that the school best supports the needs of the children. Governors are expected to meet a minimum of six times per year after school, with additional visits to the school during school hours throughout the year to observe teachers and staff, talk to pupils, attend school fairs and other events. Governors are responsible for setting the strategic direction of the school, hold school leaders to account and ensure the financial integrity of the school.Volunteers will gain awareness of the governance requirements of an educational setting and will gain experience in using their social and interpersonal skills.
What activities will the volunteer perform or take part in?
Attend Full Governor Board Meetings and subcommittee meetings six times per year. Visit the school during school hours to observe a lesson, talk to staff and pupils, observe marked work and report your observations back to the governors.
