Being a Governor is an opportunity to contribute to the improvement of the school. We are a small school with big opportunities!
Icknield is a special school for pupils with severe learning difficulties aged 3-19 years. We have achieved and maintained an OFSTED outstanding grade. However, the true beauty of our school is that we are a small site and everyone here is part of the close knit ‘Icknield Family’.
We all know all of our children, each other and every individual in our family is valued and cared for.We are highly ambitious for our pupils and we follow our own personalised curriculum based on developing key attributes needed to maximise our pupil’s ability to have a positive influence on and control over their own lives: PPICC (Personal, Physical, Independence, Cognition and Communication). Our school’s strap line is ‘Your journey matters’ and that is true for both pupils and staff.
The Senior Leadership Team are passionate about helping their teachers to develop and drive positive change. We are highly focused on reducing unnecessary teacher workload to ensure our valuable time has genuine impact on our learner experiences. We are looking for new Governors to join us on our next phase. If you are enthusiastic, innovative, committed, conscientious and motivated to help pupils with severe learning difficulties then this is the opportunity for you. We look at barriers as obstacles to be overcome rather than reasons to not attempt something that is difficult and are very proud of the range of experiences our pupils have. We require a Governor who is able to add support and expertise to the Governing body. Ideally you will have had experience in Law or Human Resources. We wish to appoint committed professionals who are lively and have a positive personality to join us.
We welcome people with a variety of backgrounds but this is a role for someone external to our organisation i.e. not a parent of a child attending our school or one of our employees. Ideally you would have experience of special needs but this is not essential. Experience is less important than aptitude and enthusiasm.
Visits to the school are welcome and encouraged
