Summer Magic for Young Minds: Nature Explorers 2025

This August, local families are invited to unplug, step outside, and dive into the wonders of storytelling, crafts, and woodland exploration with the Nature Explorers Summer Activity Series.

Designed for children aged 2–11, Nature Explorers blends interactive storytelling, hands-on crafts, and outdoor adventures, offering an enriching alternative to screen time and summer boredom. Hosted by graduated members of our Youth Team and Amanda Kane-Smith from Merry-go-Round Storytelling, each session promises a unique and imaginative journey—rooted in play, creativity, and connection with nature.

2025 Event Line-Up:

Thursday 7th August
‘Under the Awongalema Tree’
Step into a joyful African folktale that celebrates self-belief and courage. Led by Natalia and Matt (graduates from our Youth Team and long standing volunteers), this session features vibrant storytelling, tree-themed crafts, and energetic games.

Thursday 14th August
‘Little Red Riding Hood’
Amanda from Merry-go-Round Storytelling brings this classic fairytale to life with puppetry, mask-making, and drama games that let children step right into the story.

Tuesday 19th August
‘Plant Detectives: Secrets of the Wood’
An outdoor nature quest with Hebe (our ecology intern for 2025!) and the team! Children become woodland explorers—solving plant mysteries and crafting their own plant fairies using natural materials.

Tuesday 26th August
‘If You Go Down to the Woods Today…’
Teddies and toddlers rejoice! Amanda from Merry-go-Round Storytelling brings you this playful Teddy Bears Picnic including storytelling, craft-making, group games, and a family-friendly outdoor feast in Hazel Circle.
