Andover Town Centre BID Ltd (Andover BID) is a business-driven organisation dedicated to boosting Andover’s economic vitality. Managed by a board of local business owners and managers, our mission is to support local businesses and promote Andover as an appealing place to live, work, and visit.
Andover BID was elected as a Town Centre BID and came into effect in April 2019, initially running for 5-years. After a successful ballot in 2023, with 79 in favour and 39 against, the BID is now in place for another five years from April 2024 until March 2029.
Nearly 300 BIDS are active in the UK, helping businesses elevate their local economic conditions. In Andover, the BID represents over 240 town centre businesses (with a rateable value exceeding £10,000) who contribute to the BID Levy. These funds are allocated to initiatives and services aimed at benefiting the business community, residents and the town centre as a whole.
HOW ARE OUR BUSINESSES REPRESENTED?
Andover BID operates as a not-for-profit company, with our business members being represented through our board of directors. These directors are all levy-payers from diverse business sectors within the town or are affiliated with our partnership organisations. In this role, they are all unpaid volunteers who share a vested interest in Andover and its business economy.
WHY SHOULD BUSINESSES SUPPORT ANDOVER BID?
Andover BID aims to increase footfall and spending in the town centre, through events and marketing initiatives. We strengthen partnerships with local businesses and collaborate with key stakeholders and organisations. We also support businesses in building resilience, enhancing safety, addressing climate change issues and fostering positive community experiences. We do not substitute services provided through business rates; we provide additional services.
