The Royal British Legion (the Legion) is the UK’s leading Armed Forces charity, providing practical, emotional and financial support to all members of the British Armed Forces past and present and their families. Our mission is to provide welfare, comradeship, representation and Remembrance for the Armed Forces Community.

Sometimes people need more help or support from us. Our volunteer Caseworkers are home based and visit veterans and serving military personnel  in community outreach centres or their homes.

As a volunteer Caseworker, you will meet with beneficiaries to assess their circumstances and needs and to determine if they’re eligible for Legion support.

You’ll play a key role in meeting and providing practical and emotional support to members of the Armed Forces community, and will also gain experience of being in a customer-facing environment.

This volunteer opportunity is open to anyone over the age of 18, who is:

•Confident meeting with people on a one-to-one basis

•Able to assess situations objectively and remain neutral

•Discreet and aware of the importance of confidentiality

•Able to work independently and flexibly

•Able to keep accurate records

•Confident using computers, internet and email

•Able to spare a few hours on a regular basis

Travel and refreshment expenses will be reimbursed.

Full training will be provided including shadowing with an experienced Case Worker will also be provided.
