Unity Allotment receives Borough Council Funds

A successful application for £800 was made to the Test Valley Borough Council ward grant recently enabling Unity staff to purchase a new polytunnel skin and tools for their Unity community Allotment off Vigo Road in Andover.

Cllr. Iris Andersen and Cllr. Jan Budzynski who had both supported the application, joined Christianne Ireland and volunteers, Dave and Lynn Redman at the allotment on Saturday 4th June to see the improvements being made to the site.  The site which is being developed to enable disability access, is already supporting Unity’s own health and social care provision and their volunteers and plans are afoot to help other community groups to pre-book spaces to complement their own services too.

Terry Bishop, Unity’s Chief Executive said, “We would like to say thank you for the funding received from Test Valley Borough Council and the support received from both councillors.  This funding gives us the potential to use the allotment as a health living and wellbeing space for the community and means we can make it an all-weather, four seasons facility in the heart of the community
