Support for BME Led Charities and Community Organisations

Do you work for or would like to start a community group benefiting ethnic minorities? If so, we’d like to hear from you.
Unity is always hear to help you. What’s new is that our friends over at Southampton Voluntary Services have been awarded a grant to work with a number of community organisations, including Unity, to build support capacity for BME organisations  across Hampshire. Initially we’ll be working together to deliver 3 programmes between now and 31.3.2021 –

  • A fully funded Certificated on-line training programme in Charity Management for BME individuals sourced from an external provider coupled with a peer learning group and CVS support locally. Approximately 50 hours learning through 9 modules running Jan to March covering
  • Exploring the role of a leader
  • Your fundraising strategy
  • Boosting your digital marketing strategy
  • Financial management essential for charity leaders
  • Data protection and GDPR
  • Safeguarding Adults and children in charities
  • Supporting staff mental health
  • Employment law essentials
  • Staff recruitment, retention and employee engagement
  • Locally provided 6 online ( and /or face to face) short course units on Governance and management of Voluntary groups and charities covering aspects of Trustee roles and responsibilities and effective charity management . Dates yet to be set
  • Locally provided 6 online (and/or face to face ) short course units on Equality and Diversity awareness for both BME and non BME community groups and individuals. Dates yet to be set
