After a year where all services have been offered remotely, and are looking forward to opening our Centre again and to restarting face to face support for anyone whose life is affected by cancer. Whether they are the patient, their carer, or a relative. We are excited about opportunities for both existing and new services, delivered both in-person and online. To lead this next chapter for our charity, we are looking to appoint a Centre Manager with the ability to turn vision into reality.
Jane Scarth House is a cancer support centre based in the middle of Romsey, Hampshire. Well-known over a wide area, it is a walk-in centre providing emotional and practical support. The Centre itself has been providing services since 1995, for the last 7 years operating completely independently as Romsey Cancer Support Centre run by a group of local Trustees. Only a couple of hundred yards from Jane Scarth House is Jane’s, the charity’s shop, whose profits are solely used to help fund Jane Scarth House.
Services at Jane Scarth House include a befriending service with a team of 20+ trained volunteers and 6 part-time staff always ready to support, in confidence, anyone coming through the front door. Fully trained counsellors offer professional, one-to-one confidential counselling and the complementary therapies on offer include Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage and Lymphatic Massage Drainage. In addition, there is a comprehensive library covering many aspects of cancer. All services are free.

Hours: 30 – 37.5 hours a week (to be agreed on appointment), Monday-Friday (over 5 days) with occasional evening/weekend attendance
Remuneration: £28,000 – £30,000 per annum (full-time equivalent)
Holidays: 20 days per annum, plus bank holidays (pro-rata)
Objectives of this role
- To manage a welcoming and efficient Centre;
- To create, develop and maximise delivery of high-quality and appropriate services, delivered both in-person and remotely;
- To establish and build good relationships with clients, counsellors, ambassador, complementary therapists, befrienders, volunteers, trustees, personal fundraisers, the regional cancer community and the local business and charity community.
