The application process for the Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) Fund for summer is now open.
The Department for Education is providing funding to local authorities to coordinate a programme that provides healthy food and enriching activities to disadvantaged children during the 2021 Easter, Summer and Christmas Holidays. Hampshire County Council is delivering this through the connect4communities programme.
Connect4communities is seeking to engage with a wide network of community based organisations across Hampshire, including existing holiday care providers, schools, childminders, sports coaching, creative and performing arts providers and many others to run activity sessions for these children. All children in Hampshire who receive benefits related Free School Meals will be eligible to take part in the activities.
Each activity session must last for a minimum of four hours a day, for at least four days a week for four weeks in the summer. Healthy, and preferably hot, meals must also be provided.
Grants will be awarded to organisations including schools, activity providers, community groups, childminders and many more who can demonstrate an ability to deliver:
- High quality enriching activities
- Healthy, and preferably hot, meals
- Skills, activities/classes aimed at helping children and their parents to make healthy and affordable choices.
- A positive legacy that lasts longer than the experience
There are two types of grant can be applied for
- Grant type A – For childcare places in existing schemes/clubs/childminders and also for new places in new schemes/clubs in priority and rural areas
- Grant type B – For Summer holiday events, short activities, innovative projects and initiatives lasting a minimum of 4 hours per day or more; targeting priority and rural areas
