As part of this year’s ‘Dementia Action Week’, members of Greenbuttercup CIC, put on a ‘Jubilee Tea’, with an open invite to anyone who was interested in their Dementia Services.
Those present: had a go at making bunting (which was later raffled off); viewed a display of photos of the Queen’s visits to Romsey during her reign; enjoyed a cream tea; and met the newly-appointed Mayor of Romsey. The surprise was that we all know the Mayor, Cllr. Neil Gwynne – as the Chair of RAODS, who often opens/closes the Plaza for our sessions on a Friday mornings.
One of the annual events organised by the Rotary Club of Romsey Test is ‘Romsey Reminicences’. As with most things, this had been cancelled for the last two years, but it returned this May – albeit a bit later in the year than usual. Members of local friendship and support groups are invited to attend, and Greenbuttercup CIC had a table for participants of our Dementia Groups. After a welcome drink, the afternoon started with a slideshow of old Romsey, followed by a quiz about Romsey — which despite only getting 13/29 correct, we won a prize for ! It did make us think a sightseeing walk around Romsey is in order, Tea was served by the ladies of the Inner Wheel, before a showing of ‘Romsey: the Movie’ and some musical entertainment .
Thanks go to the members of the Rotary Club of Romsey Test and The Inner Wheel of Romsey Test for putting on this event again, and for inviting us.
