Free bus pass travel within the wider Hampshire area is available for Ukrainian refugees arriving in the county as part of the Government’s Homes for Ukraine scheme over the summer, following an announcement by Hampshire County Council
The Local Authority is in the process of finalising arrangements with the county’s three major bus operators – Stagecoach, First Bus and Bluestar – with the scheme due to launch shortly.
Leader of Hampshire County Council, Councillor Rob Humby said: “We are very mindful of the extremely difficult situation so many Ukrainian families are facing as they flee from war in their country, and have been pleased to welcome individuals and families to our county as part of the Government’s Home for Ukraine scheme.
“This announcement forms part of the support we are extending to those arriving and is a practical and effective step to help our Ukrainian guests get around Hampshire during their stay. I would like to thank the bus operators for the constructive and productive discussions we have had – today’s announcement is tribute to the excellent partnership working we have enjoyed with the operators in Hampshire over many years.”
