DESCRIPTION:This August\, local families are invited to unplug\, step outside\, and dive into the wonders of storytelling\, crafts\, and woodland exploration with the Nature Explorers Summer Activity Series. \nDesigned for children aged 2–11\, Nature Explorers blends interactive storytelling\, hands-on crafts\, and outdoor adventures\, offering an enriching alternative to screen time and summer boredom. Hosted by graduated members of our Youth Team and Amanda Kane-Smith from Merry-go-Round Storytelling\, each session promises a unique and imaginative journey—rooted in play\, creativity\, and connection with nature. \n2025 Event Line-Up: \nThursday 7th August\n‘Under the Awongalema Tree’\nStep into a joyful African folktale that celebrates self-belief and courage. Led by Natalia and Matt (graduates from our Youth Team and long standing volunteers)\, this session features vibrant storytelling\, tree-themed crafts\, and energetic games. \nThursday 14th August\n‘Little Red Riding Hood’\nAmanda from Merry-go-Round Storytelling brings this classic fairytale to life with puppetry\, mask-making\, and drama games that let children step right into the story. \nTuesday 19th August\n‘Plant Detectives: Secrets of the Wood’\nAn outdoor nature quest with Hebe (our ecology intern for 2025!) and the team! Children become woodland explorers—solving plant mysteries and crafting their own plant fairies using natural materials. \nTuesday 26th August\n‘If You Go Down to the Woods Today…’\nTeddies and toddlers rejoice! Amanda from Merry-go-Round Storytelling brings you this playful Teddy Bears Picnic including storytelling\, craft-making\, group games\, and a family-friendly outdoor feast in Hazel Circle.

With over 100 stalls showcasing the very best of local food\, produce and crafts\, it is a family friendly event attracting thousands of visitors from all around. \nThe beautiful\, historic high street of Stockbridge becomes abuzz with activity\, with live music filling the air\, Juggling Jake entertaining the children with his circus skills and the countryside coming to the high street in the form of farm animals\, vintage agricultural equipment\, craft demonstrations\, face painting and the many stalls promoting and selling local fare. \nMany of the High Street shops will be open too – they all contribute to making Stockbridge a thriving and unique experience on a daily basis; so together with them Trout 'n About hope to give visitors many reasons to come back again and again. \nTrout 'n About is set on the beautiful\, historic High Street of the market town of Stockbridge\, Hampshire. With the river Test flowing under the High Street our festival is named after one of the things the Test Valley is renowned for – Trout! \nParking will be provided in fields at either end of the High Street\, from which a FREE King Alfred's bus shuttle service will run you to the centre of the action.
