SUMMARY:Andover: An Overspill Story
DESCRIPTION:In the 1950s\, Andover was approached to become an ‘overspill’ town for London. Whether apparent or not at the time\, this decision to accept the agreement would radically change the look and feel of Andover forever. \nA new exhibition at Andover Museum entitled Andover: An Overspill Story\, shines a light on the lives of those who left London for Andover in search of a better life as part of the ‘overspill’. It features stories at the heart of this emotive time in the town’s history as well as audio clips from residents who describe their experiences in their own words. \nThis exhibition has been curated as part of a Wessex Film and Sound Archive (WFSA) project that was created with the support of the British Film Institute (BFI) awarding funds from the National Lottery to help develop WFSA collections. It would also not have been possible without the financial support of Andover History and Archaeology Society (AHAS)\, Hampshire Archives Trust (HAT)\, and Test Valley Arts Foundation (TVAF). \nAndover: An Overspill Story is on display in Andover Museum from Friday 14 March to Sunday 27 April 2025. No booking required.

DESCRIPTION:An EGG-cellent packed programme of school holiday fun lies in store at the Army Flying Museum at Middle Wallop in Hampshire this Easter. \nFollowing on from unprecedented numbers at February half-term\, the Easter holidays have lots in store for visitors throughout the Easter break\, including an Easter Egg hunt which will run from Good Friday to Easter Monday. \nPopular model making sessions are also back on Tuesday 8 and Sunday 13 April and the Museum’s new regular holiday attraction\, will enable visitors to walk around an Apache Helicopter with use of their special VR headsets on Thursday 10 April.  Free craft activities run daily from 10-1230 and children also have the opportunity to take part in a special Easter trail running throughout the holidays. \nTwo special events finish the packed programme with visitors encouraged to get their hands dirty on Wednesday 9 April with the team from Spaces for Growing and make their very own wild-flower seed bombs to take home and use in their gardens. To end the Easter holidays\, the Museum will be getting a very special visit from Crazy Creatures on Thursday 17 April who will be bringing a few of their reptiles\, invertebrates and amphibians along to the Museum for visitors to see. \nDuring Easter weekend\, be on the look out for a golden egg which will be hidden in the Museum each day\, giving visitors the chance to win a family ticket to a local attraction. \nAlong with all the interactives\, dressing up and play areas at the Museum\, there is plenty to keep everyone busy and all activities throughout the holidays\, excluding the Easter Egg Hunt\, are included in ticket price which also comes with a free annual pass offered by the Museum. \nLucy Johnson\, CEO of the Army Flying Museum said: “We were thrilled to see so many new and returning visitors at half term participating in the wide range of activities we now offer at all the school holidays.  We are very excited about our Easter programme and so pleased that we are continuing to provide so many additional activities as part of the general ticket income\, giving families excellent value for money”. \nEveryone that visits the Museum only needs to pay once to receive a free annual pass and this has proved an extremely popular incentive to residents around Hampshire and Wiltshire who have seen increased value for their passes over the last two years\, with a significant increase in the number of activities being offered by the Museum. \nDue to large numbers of visitors during the school holidays\, the Museum encourages visitors and annual pass holders to book online in advance for their visits to avoid disappointment.
