Test Valley Aikido Club

Aikido is quite a modern martial art, developed mainly from the martial art aiki-jūjutsu by Morihei Ueshiba, a vastly experienced Japanese martial artist who died in 1969. His goal was to create an art that not only allows someone to defend themselves, but also to protect their attacker from injury. Aikido does not use punching and kicking, neither does it use head on opposition to an attack. Instead, Aikido blends with the motion of the attacker and redirects the attack, therefore needing very little strength, and typically the movements are finished off with a throw or an immobilization. You need no experience of martial arts to start your training nor need to be physically fit. All you need is a willingness to learn. First class will be free to allow you to give it a go at our expense
