Brendoncare aims to improve the quality of life for older people, and our growing local network of social/activity clubs are vital in combating loneliness and social isolation. They enable our members to develop relationship networks and each club aims to respond to the interests, needs, aspirations and choices of each individual.
All of our clubs are run by fantastic teams of volunteers and we’re currently looking for more people to get involved in your local area.
About the role
This is an opportunity to play a major role in the success of the club. Your main task will be to engage with club members and existing volunteers to maintain and develop an exciting programme with something interesting, engaging, entertaining, interactive and enjoyable happening at each meeting. This may be organised from external sources or something more ‘home grown’ like a reminiscence session or indoor games like skittles
Other aspects of the role could include: ensuring that the venue and activities are appropriate and safe for our members; engaging with other volunteers so that the sessions run smoothly; preparing monthly returns for the finance team, keeping records of how many members have visited the club, submitting any expenses for cost incurred on the club’s behalf.
What support is available?
Regular help is on hand from our dedicated team of Brendoncare Club Support Workers, who are in turn supported by a Locality Manager in their area. A team based at Central Office are available to help with all aspects of volunteer recruitment needed to maintain your team, and there is also financial support available to enable you to prepare the monthly returns, etc. Training will also be provided to assist you in the role.
Also available for your use is a centralised directory providing comprehensive information on suitable activities, resources, local speakers and entertainers available in your club’s area.
What is required?
We are looking for creative, energetic individuals who would like to use their organisational and communication skills to make a palpable difference to the members’ experiences and the direction of the club.
You may be looking for a role where you can use your professional and life-skills in a meaningful way post-retirement; be interested to develop new skills, or be exploring ways to prepare you for future paid roles.
