Andover based contemporary arts organisation Chapel Arts Studios (CAS) are excited to announce Artblast – an inclusive art drop-in this August for young people aged 11+ at Smannell Road Skatepark, running from the 4th – 19th August 2021 on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 2 – 6 pm.
An experienced artist will run a series of 3 x 2-day blocks of fun, energetic and accessible creative activities, reflecting the skills and interests of the participants.
Our experienced street artists will bring all the equipment needed, along with ‘The bus of Many Things’ to run participant-led sessions, teaching graffiti techniques on large boards, for all experience levels in preparation for an exhibition showcasing the work at the end of the project. As a town, Andover faces some real challenges, both economically and socially, but it is also a vibrant community and involving the skateboarding community is a great way of reaching those who may not otherwise have opportunities to explore visual arts and creativity.
CAS’ Education and Creative Director, David Dixon says: ‘At CAS we always aim to be inclusive, educate and reach new audiences – what better way than by engaging Andover’s skateboarding enthusiasts and encouraging young people to get creative and rediscover summer in their community after so many cancelled activities in the past 18 months.’
