Active Ageing Class Instructor – Andover

Valley Leisure are seeking a passionate and engaging group exercise instructor to deliver specialist exercise classes to older adults in and around Andover.

Following the restrictions imposed by Covid-19, the charity has prioritised the development of an older adults group exercise programme to counter the reduced mobility, increased unsteadiness and apprehension about returning to community based activity.

Reporting to the Exercise Therapist, the role of Active Ageing Class Instructor is a key role for the charity to deliver specialist group exercise classes to older adults at community venues in and around Andover.

With a focus on falls prevention, the role is ideal for passionate, specialist, advanced instructors looking to build their class portfolio.

This role will be facilitated by the charity’s Exercise Therapist and Partnerships Development Manager who will secure community venues from which to deliver classes and who will market classes to the target audience and signposting organisations. The role has opportunity for training and progression determined by the needs of the business and local area health priorities.

This is an exciting opportunity for group exercise instructors with a special interest and passion in delivering exercise to older adults for health and wellbeing benefit.

You will ensure a safe and effective exercise experience for all participants, you will uphold the charity’s policies and procedures, you will empower and enable our customers to move more and feel better and you will support the Exercise Therapist to monitor the effectiveness of classes.

Suitable candidates will possess the following:

  • Level 4 Advanced Instructor Qualification – Postural Stability Instructor for Falls Prevention
  • Level 3 Exercise Music and Dance
  • Level 3 Exercise for Older Adults
  • Registration with an industry recognised professional body
  • Recognised public liability and professional indemnity insurance
  • HMRC Unique Tax Reference Number
  • Proven track record of working with older adults
  • Excellent communication skills
